In Supernatural, many weapons are used, both conventional and some a little unconventional. Here is a list of the most popular weapons used on the show and what they are used for.
Here is the best known gun in the whole series. It is said to be able to kill anything supernatural. We find out later that there are actually only 5 things in all of creation that it cannot kill. However, we never find out what those 5 things are. This very special gun was modeled after the Colt Paterson, the first model revolver made by Samuel Colt in 1836. One of the last remaining originals sold at auction on Sept. 18th, 2011 for a record-breaking $977,500!
Next up is probably the best looking gun on the whole series. This is Dean's Colt 1911 A1 .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun. It is either stainless steel or nickel plated with ivory grips and intricate detailed engraving on the slide.
This one is almost as good looking as Dean's. This is Sam's Taurus 92 9mm that comes standard with a 17-round magazine. It is stainless steel with mother of pearl grips. Although used by Dean occasionally, by season 2 it was predominately carried by Sam.
The Beretta Model 92 9mm came standard with a 15-round magazine. The one used in the show was totally blued. This weapon does not get much use.
This weapon is either a Smith & Wesson Model 4006 or Model 3906. The 4006 has an 11-round capacity while the 3906 has an 9 round capacity. This gun is stainless with black rubber grips. It is a gun that has not made many appearances on the show.
Winchester 1897 pump shotgun with steel barrel, a sawed off wooden grip and a corrugated wooden pump. This is only one of the shotguns used.
There is also one pistol-grip sawed-off double-barrel and one pistol-grip single-barrel shotgun that is used.
This handgun has only appeared in one episode of Supernatural. It is silver with a black grip, but not sure of the exact composites of this. The Desert Eagle is only available in large calibers including .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .440 Cor-bon, and .50 Action Express.
Another rarely seen gun, this is a Colt Trooper, a revolver which holds 6 .357 rounds.
The M16 rifle, 223 caliber with a 20 or 30 round magazine has only appeared in one episode of the show.
The crossbow has been used in at least one episode.
